ACNE & COMPLEX SKIN CONDITIONS

We provide expert assessment and treatment for acne and a wide range of complex skin conditions. Every consultation focuses on understanding the underlying causes of your concerns, allowing us to create a personalised, medically led treatment plan. Our approach combines clinical expertise with evidence-based dermatology to support clearer, healthier skin over the long term

acne spots
  • Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition affecting both adolescents and adults. Without appropriate treatment it can lead to long-term scarring and significant impact on confidence and quality of life. Treatment is tailored to the severity and type of acne and may include topical therapies, oral antibiotics, hormonal treatments, or isotretinoin (Roaccutane) where appropriate. The aim is to control active acne early and prevent permanent scarring.

  • Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that commonly causes facial redness, flushing and visible blood vessels. Care focuses on identifying triggers and providing personalised treatment plans to control symptoms and reduce flare-ups.

  • Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition that causes dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It affects both children and adults and often follows a relapsing course. Management focuses on restoring the skin barrier and controlling inflammation. Treatment may include emollients, topical anti-inflammatory therapies and other targeted treatments depending on severity, with the aim of reducing flare-ups and improving long-term control of the condition.

  • Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated skin condition characterised by well-defined red, scaly plaques. Treatment is tailored to the severity and distribution of the condition, with a focus on controlling symptoms and improving quality of life.

  • Hair loss may result from a range of medical and inflammatory conditions affecting the scalp. Assessment focuses on identifying the underlying cause and establishing an accurate diagnosis. I assess and manage scarring and non-scarring alopecia, with treatment tailored to the individual condition.

Please note that consultations for male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) are not offered.

Full Skin Examination

  • Moles are common and usually benign, but some may change over time. Dermoscopic examination allows detailed assessment of moles to identify features that may require monitoring, biopsy or removal.

  • Skin cancer assessments involve the evaluation of suspicious skin lesions using specialised examination techniques. Early identification and diagnosis are essential for effective management and optimal outcomes.

  • Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer but is highly treatable when detected early. Assessment focuses on identifying new or changing pigmented lesions and recognising early warning signs of melanoma.

  • Non-melanoma skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), are common and usually related to long-term sun exposure. They often appear as a sore that does not heal, particularly on sun-exposed areas such as the face and neck. Early diagnosis allows prompt treatment and helps prevent damage to the surrounding skin.

  • Long-term sun exposure can cause areas of sun-damaged skin and actinic keratoses. Actinic keratoses are rough, scaly patches of skin caused by long-term sun exposure. These lesions are considered precancerous and should be assessed and treated to reduce the risk of progression to skin cancer.

Paediatric Dermatology

  • Atopic eczema is one of the most common skin conditions in infants and children, causing dry, itchy and inflamed skin. Management focuses on restoring the skin barrier, reducing flare-ups and developing a long-term treatment plan tailored to the child.

  • Moles are common in children and are usually benign. Assessment focuses on identifying unusual or changing moles using dermoscopy and advising on monitoring where appropriate.

  • Children frequently present with new or persistent rashes. A careful clinical assessment can identify the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment to relieve symptoms and prevent recurrence.

  • Hair and scalp conditions such as hair loss, scaling or inflammation can occur in childhood. Dermatological assessment helps determine the cause and recommend appropriate treatment where needed.
